Nintendo Wii Features

Wii Channels use the WiiConnect24’s “24/7″ (always ON) design. Wii’s default channels include a news channel, a photo channel,a weather forecast channel, a message channel, and the Mii channel, where you can make your own avatars (characters). Its’ home page provides access to the Virtual Console titles and disc-based Wii/GameCube games.

The Mii Channel includes enough customization features for you to make Miis that look like anyone you want. They can be used as avatars in the Wii’s Message Channel or in the many games. Since Miis don’t need much storage, you can have up to 10 to carry with you and share with friends.

The Photo Channel features image viewing and editing. You can load up to 1,000 photos into the SD card slot, then view them individually, browse them in an album view, or watch as a slide show. It also has a basic image editor and plays music for you.

The News Channel downloads stories from the AP wire service in text that can be zoomed in for easier reading. The stories show a map indicating where the news is happening or pictures. The News Channel organizes the different stories like newspapers into sections (local, national, entertainment, etc.). Besides the newspaperlike format, stories can watched by a slide show or a globe-like setting.

The Forecast Channel is cool; you can create a personal weather report that includes 5-day forecasts, UV reports, and more, for virtually any city.

The Internet Channel is packed with features; you can download videos and flash with the Wii’s onscreen keyboard. Nintendo continually adds new channels.

Virtual Consoles let you shop for and play classic games.

Wiimote, Game Play, and Graphics are what sets the Nintendo Wii apart; the wireless sensor bar connects to the pad you stand on, and is able to discern swinging a bat from say, driving a car. There are also sound effects to enhance the experience. The nunchuck attachment augments games even more with extra buttons that lead to extra actions.

The Nintendo Wii really delivers for family fun and getting people active. There is no other game with its’ motion-sensing, virtual-reality, and wireless features.
